Yellowknife, capital of the Northwest Territories, is located on the north shore of Great Slave Lake, about 1500 km north of Edmonton, Alberta. This city of 18,000 has most big city amenities, and features spectacular wilderness right on its doorstep.

In the summer you can be on the water in minutes, leaving from our Yellowknife Outdoor Adventures private wharf. In winter the lake becomes a vast playground for snowmobiles, dog teams and skiers.

Summer days are long and glorious, with 22 hours of daylight and just two hours of dusk in June and July. The long days warm up the shallows of the big lake just enough for comfort on the water. Choose a guided fishing or bird watching excursion, for a half-day, a day or more, and learn about our natural world. You won’t be disappointed.
