Aurora Island Lodge

Just a 30-35 minute journey from Yellowknife’s old town, the lodge is accessible by boat in the summer and by a 15-passenger tracked van in winter. It’s an ideal spot to relax and experience aurora viewing in a peaceful, wilderness setting.
Winter Adventure Tours
The winter season runs from December 18 to April 5, offering prime opportunities for aurora viewing. During this time, Yellowknife Outdoor Adventures offers guided northern lights tours via snowmobile or in the comfort of our heated, snow-tracked vans. Summer Adventure Tours
The summer season runs from June 20 to September 30, offering a variety of experiences on Great Slave Lake. Enjoy sightseeing tours, dinner cruises, and Trophy Pike fishing trips, guided by experts who will help you land the legendary Great Northern Pike. While the auroras are best viewed in winter, early autumn visitors may still catch the northern lights reflecting off the lake’s calm waters on clear nights.
